Overview:
The pre-school teacher is charged with the responsibility of planning a visually pleasing, intellectually stimulating child-centered environment. The teacher is responsible for lesson planning and the overall protection and safety of the class. The teacher must establish and maintain good working relationships with parents, staff and children. They will perform their responsibilities while pursuing professional development goals consistent with the needs of the school. The teacher will report directly to the Education Director.

- Bachelor’s Degree or AA in ECE or related field or NYS Certified N-3, N-6 preferred; CPR certification required.
- Minimum: Experience in ECE with minimum 3 years experience required.

Responsibilities:
Supervision
- Responsible for supervision and support of assistant teacher and parent helper volunteers.
- Responsible for the safety of the welfare of the children - inside and outside of the school building; during safety drills and in emergency situations.
Education
- Plan and implement an appropriate Early Childhood Educational Program.
- Plan day to day classroom activities.
- Change and update classroom environment regularly to highlight the weekly or monthly themes.
- Prepare and conduct Parent Teacher Conferences once per school year.
- Complete Student Progress Reports two times per school year (January and end of year).
- Complete 8 hours of Professional Development training annually.
Operation
- Set up classroom for September start-up.
- Prepare bulletin boards, cubbies, etc.
- Inspect equipment for cleanliness and safety.
- In the event of a planned absence - have plans available for the assistant teacher and substitute teacher to follow. In the event of an unplanned absence - have two weeks of sub plans to be followed by the assistant teacher and substitute teacher during your absence.
- Communicate all pertinent information to families (via Bloomz or Email).
- Communicate effectively with parents concerning students (via Bloomz, phone or Email).
- Address discipline issues according to TVN Discipline Policy - complete incident and/or accident reports as necessary.
- Attend monthly scheduled staff meetings.
- Attend "Meet the Teacher" Day(s).
- Attend Parent Orientation night in September and meet with parents in the classroom.
- Attend Open House for future TVN families in January.
- Assist helping parent volunteers in the classroom.
- Attend field trips (prepare permission slips and collect any fees if applicable - fees are to be consolidated and given to the Education Director).
- Set up and clean up classroom daily.
- Conduct end of year cleaning, inventory and disposal of damaged equipment.
- Organize end of year class Moving Up ceremony.
- Maintain updated CPR training.
- Function within TVN budget.
